This course introduces students to the principles of racism, inequity and exclusion as it pertains to Indigenous Peoples and will focus on building an awareness of Indigenous history and culture. Adult educators develop cultural awareness, cultural sensitivity and cultural competence to best support Indigenous adult learners.

- Describe the impact residential schools and other social injustices have had on society (Indigenous and non-Indigenous Peoples).
- Describe the structures within society that contribute to racism, inequity, and exclusion as they pertain to Indigenous Peoples.
- Summarize the Truth and Reconciliation Calls to Action and the steps Canada has taken towards reconciliation.
- Describe strategies to create inclusive, diverse, and welcoming environments for Indigenous adult learners.
- Demonstrate how to integrate Indigenous Perspectives into Adult Education.
- Identify strategies to support Indigenous learners.
